This is my Task Manager GPU status while running World of Warships (which used to run perfectly fine): I have no idea if that's normal or not, but figured it may be a helpful additional infoĪs additional info, I have no indications of the GPU dying on me, no artifacts or screen flickers, everything else is working as it was other than the FPS count.

Tried updating the onboard Intel HD Graphics 530 adapter (to no avail since it wouldn't allow me to install intel's generic drivers)Īdditionally I've noticed that on Intel's driver support assistant it detects the GTX 960M gpu, the status says that it's working properly but under "Availability" I get "offline". Selecting high performance GPU from the Nvidia Control Panel
Reinstalling the graphics card driver (currently at latest: 397.64) The same games I've been playing until a couple of days ago are now suddenly lacking FPS (haven't changed any game video settings at all).ĭisabling battery boost from GeForce Experience The weird thing is that if I tab out to desktop and tab back in, for the first couple of seconds the FPS and performance seems fine and then it drops back to 30 FPS. The problem is that even DotA 2 is running at 30 FPS. After a couple of days of trying everything I thought the problem might be some faulty driver that auto updated, so I reinstalled Windows completely, to no avail, the problem still persists.

Additionally, Windows 10 task manager shows that the GTX 960M usage is at 100%, yet I do not get the CPU temperatures (nor do the fans work as hard as they used to) as I did (they now stay at slightly above idle temperatures, while previously they used to rise up by 30 degrees Celsius when on full load). I haven't done anything special other than my daily routines. I haven't done any windows updates, I had a pending graphics driver which I didn't install until I already noticed the performance drop. It was working perfectly fine, running games and whatnot perfectly fine for the majority of the period (GTA V, DotA 2, Battlefield, World of Warships etc.).Ī couple of days ago, my GPU started dropping in performance for no apparent reason. I know it is the intel driver because if I uninstall the Intel Driver completely and let it install the generic microsoft basic graphics driver, while the performance isn't good, the screen does NOT flicker.I've had my ASUS G552VW laptop for 2 years and a couple of months now. I am about to return this laptop, this is annoying. So wasn't sure if the website was behind on graphics driver releases, although the Dell Update app hasn't downloaded any new driver either.
For example the newest Laptop BIOS on the driver website ends in. not sure if a newer driver is available and just not posted.

I have tried various drivers versions for this model off the Dell website without success. As soon as the Intel card kicks back in the screen flickers. One thing I have done recently to mitigate the flickering is go into the NVIDIA driver control panel and set the NVIDIA card as the preferred graphics card, which works for most applications. I disabled this to resolve that issue, but the screen still constantly flickers. this also causes issues with the start menu looking distorted and fuzzy, even making some of the white text look gray. for the Intel 530 and my screen is still constantly flickering on my brand new XPS 9550.Īnother Issue: I also noticed that in the Intel graphics properties config panel -> 3D -> Application Optimal Mode. I saw a post about the XPS 13 with the intel display flickering being fixed with the new driver.
